ELECTRODEPOSITED NICKEL PLATING

Keystone Corporation’s electrodeposited nickel plating is used both as an engineering or decorative finish, and as an undercoat for other plated metals. Nickel has an extremely high melting point of 1455C (2651F) making it an excellent coating for high-temp applications. Keystone Corporation offers both Bright and Sulfamate Nickel for both Rack and Barrel plating applications.

ELECTRODEPOSITED NICKEL PLATING PROCESSES:

Keystone Corporation offers the following processes for Nickel Electroplating:

  • Bright
  • Sulfamate

For applications requiring a bright or lustrous appearance, Keystone offers Bright watts nickel plating.  Bright nickel has organic additives that refine the grain structure of the nickel and deposit with a self-leveling effect to enhance luster.  These additives can impair the solderability or brazing of the nickel and also result in a more highly tensile stressed deposit with reduced ductility.

Sulfamate Nickel plating yields a nickel deposit with exceptionally low tensile stress. It is ideal  for electroforming, amongst other engineering applications. The purity, corrosion protection, dimensional buildup and resistance to high temperatures of the Sulfamate nickel deposit make it an ideal plating application for engineering components. The low stress of Sulfamate nickel plating yields nickel deposits with ductility, elongation and machinability far superior to other nickel deposits.

Sulfamate Nickel excels where a highly ductile, low-stress nickel deposit is preferred, such as for flexing or crimping applications, as well as joining functions such as soldering, brazing, epoxy bonding or welding. Keystone Corporation currently services a wide range of industries in sulfamate nickel plating, including the interconnect, telecommunications, power transmission, medical and defense markets. Sulfamate nickel plating also serves as an excellent underplate for tin plating, silver plating and gold plating and is often used in over-molding and epoxy bonding applications.
