Keystone Corporation’s Copper plating is used both as a final finish for engineering and decorative finishes and as an undercoat for other plated metals.

As a final deposit, copper plating is used for enhancing the brazing, thermal or electrical conductivity of substrate materials, as a high temperature lubricant, as a heat treatment stop-off, and for jacketing of projectiles.  Copper is easily buffed to a high luster and provides excellent electrical conductivity and solderability.

As an underplate for deposits such as nickel, tin, tin/lead, gold, or silver, copper enhances adhesion of deposits, improves electrical properties, impairs migration of alloying elements into the final plated deposit, and improves corrosion resistance of the overall deposit. Copper plating provides an excellent diffusion barrier preventing components of the base material from migrating into the subsequent plating layers.

Some traditional uses of Keystone Corporation’s Copper plating include:

  • Mask for selective heat treatment
  • Anti-microbial coating to reduce virus transmission on high-touch surfaces
  • Armor-piercing ammunition
  • Electrical components
  • Hardware

Keystone Corporation's copper plating meets the following specifications

  • MIL-C-15540
  • AMS 2418
  • ASTM B734
  • Commercial and customer generated specifications
