Passivation per ASTM-A967

Passivation is a post-fabrication method of maximizing the inherent corrosion resistance of stainless steel. Passivation is a process that removes exogenous iron or iron compounds from the surface of the stainless steel alloy. This process greatly reduces the formation rust on the surface of the workpiece. Passivation often follows the process of pickling. This ensures that the surface of the workpiece is free of scale and contaminates. This process makes the part less susceptible to rust and corrosion.
